The ASTER images of Athens, Greece taken in October, 2001 (above) and March, 2004 (below).

The sites for the Olympic games starting August 13, 2004 have been constructed at a fast pace during the past over 2 year period, and that development can be observed comparing the above two images.

In the OAKA (Athens Olympic Sports Complex) area at the upper right of the image are the Olympic Stadium where the opening and closing ceremonies and the finals of track events and soccer games will be held, and the Aquatic Center for swimming competitions.
The goal of the marathon race will take place in Panathinaiko Stadium located in the middle of the image, which had once been the main stadium for the world's first Olympics.
