Long Range WPT Flight Demonstration Succeeded.

Japan Space Systems conducted a demonstration experiment of long-distance wireless power transmission (WPT) using an aircraft and succeeded in beam forming and control the direction of the beam using 5.8GHz microwaves for power transmission.

This experiment was the first in the world in that
■ Beam formation and direction control using a phased array antenna,
■ Long distance WPT that more than 5 km,
■ Vertical WPT from the sky to the ground,
■ WPT from high-speed aircraft to the ground.

On December 4, the experiment was released to the press and stakeholders participated.

Japan Space Systems and organized team have been engaged in the SSPS project for more than 30 years, commissioned by METI. We are engaged in microwave power transmission technology development in parallel with the continuing activity for the SSPS system feasibility study, research, development and demonstration work for the realization for the SSPS in middle of 2040s.
